Armen Karamyan

Armen Karamyan was born in Armenia. His first musical abilities were displayed since his childhood, when he was 3 years old. Being naturally gifted, he easily reproduced on the piano with one finger everything he heard.  He started his music education at the music school, then continued in music college it the piano class of Gohar Toranyan. Here he twice participated in Republic Piano Contests in 1978-79 and was awarded with first and second prices respectfully. In 1980, he has entered in the Yerevan State Conservatory in the piano class of Svetlana Dadyan. After the graduation from the Conservatory in 1985, Armen moved to Kapan and worked at the Music College as Piano Teacher. Being Syunik native, he had number of performances as a soloist and ensemble player, contributed to active concert life in Kapan. Parallelly, he accomplished the Post-Graduated Course at the Yerevan State Conservatory. Then, in 1992, he moved to Yerevan and continued his pedagogical activity in the Music College after Romanos Melikyan and Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas, where had worked until 2005. 

Since 1993, Armen is being engaged in humanitarian activity with the International Committee of the Red Cross. Despite his busy schedule, he never cut his ties with music, had number of piano performances as soloist and ensemble player.

 

Armen Karamyan, Biography

 

Described as "a naturally gifted Armen Karamyan began displaying his musical talents at the tender age of 3, when he was able to reproduce everything, he heard on the piano. His journey into formal music education began at a music school, which was then followed by music college in the class of piano teacher Gohar Toranyan. Karamyan's talents shone brightly, as demonstrated by his participation in Republic Piano Contests in 1978-79, where he was honored with both first and second prizes.

In 1980, he entered the Yerevan State Conservatory, studying in the piano class of Svetlana Dadyan. After graduating from the Conservatory in 1985, Karamyan moved to Kapan and took up a role as a Piano Teacher at the Music College, thereby contributing significantly to the active concert life in Kapan.

Parallel to his duties as a teacher, he completed a Post-Graduated Course at the Yerevan State Conservatory. In 1992, Karamyan relocated to Yerevan and continued his pedagogical work at the Music College after Romanos Melikyan and Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas until 2005.

Despite assuming a role in humanitarian activity with the International Committee of the Red Cross in 1993, Karamyan remained true to his roots in music. He has performed numerous times as a soloist and ensemble player, consistently displaying the talent and dedication that marked him out from an early age.

A native of Syunik, Karamyan's contributions to his field, both in performance and education, have been widely recognized. His ability to balance his commitments with his unwavering passion for music testifies to his devotion to his craft."
