A talented composer and arranger, she brings a distinctive creative touch to all her performances, often incorporating new cadenzas, improvisations, or orchestral arrangements for both well-known and lesser-known works. Her cadenza for Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4, which included Belgium’s national anthem, gained widespread recognition during the 2019 Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition in Belgium, earning her television coverage on several major networks.
She has graced prestigious concert venues such as Carnegie Hall, Smetana Hall in Prague, Lotte Concert Hall, Seoul Arts Center, and Lincoln Center. She has also been featured in major festivals, including the Al Bustan Festival, Pharos International Festival, Lerici Music Festival, and Salzburger Festspiele.
Born in Seoul in 1989, Sun began violin lessons at the age of five. Displaying exceptional talent, she was admitted to the Juilliard Pre-College Division at ten. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from The Juilliard School, studying with renowned professors Robert Mann, Joel Smirnoff, and Sally Thomas, before continuing her postgraduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music. She later moved to Europe to study at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg under the guidance of esteemed violinist Pierre Amoyal.
