





Hayk Melikyan
Hayk Melikyan started playing the piano at the age of six with Irina Grishinskaya. Later, he continued his professional studies with Professor Alexander Gourgenov at the Yerevan Komitas Conservatory. During his studies, he attended masterclasses by Oxana Yablonskaya, Paul Badura-Skoda, Earl Wild, and Fou Ts'Ong.
He leads an active concert career, performing throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas on prestigious stages such as Geneva's Victoria Hall, Lisbon's Gulbenkian Grand Auditorium, and Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, among others. Hayk Melikyan is a laureate of several international piano competitions, including the Concours d'Orléans (France), Ibla Grand Prize (Italy), Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music (USA), and Premio Valentino Bucchi (Italy). In 2012, the Moscow Composers Union awarded him a Gold Medal for his contribution to and promotion of World Contemporary Music.
In 2013, Hayk Melikyan was named an Honorary Artist of Armenia. His solo album, "Armenian: Complete Piano Works", released by Naxos Grand Piano, was selected as The Best Classical Music Album of the Year at the National Music Awards in 2018.
He is also the co-founder of the 1900+ and 2000+ concert series. In 2024, Hayk Melikyan received a Gold Medal from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of 1900+.
Hayk Melikyan regularly holds piano masterclasses worldwide and performs at various festivals, including Festival de Valmagne and Festival de Musique en Côte de Nacre (France), Festival O/MODƏRNT (Sweden), Warsaw Royal Arcades of Art Festival (Poland), Concerto di Concerto, Nuovi Spazi Musicali, San Leo Music Festival (Italy), Les Musicales de Baabdath (Lebanon), Pharos Contemporary Music Festival (Cyprus), Lviv Contrasts Contemporary Music Festival (Ukraine), and Sofia ppIANISSIMO Contemporary Piano Music Festival (Bulgaria), among others.
Hayk Melikyan has collaborated with renowned performers, composers, and conductors such as Edgar Moreau, Kristóf Baráti, Hugo Ticciati, Francesco Dillon, György Kurtág, Pēteris Vasks, Tigran Mansurian, Krzysztof Penderecki, Valery Gergiev, Diego Martín-Etxebarria, and many others.
As a composer, Hayk Melikyan is the author of works for piano solo, chamber music, instrumental pieces, vocal music, and symphonic works. His piano transcriptions, concert paraphrases, and arrangements are among the favorite pieces in the repertoires of many pianists worldwide.
