







Liana Aleksanyan
Recognized as one of the most promising sopranos of her generation, Armenian-born Liana Aleksanyan is praised for her spinto vocal qualities and remarkable stage presence. Since her European debut as Manon Lescaut at the Norwegian National Opera in 2005, she has performed at many of Europe's leading opera houses. She is currently a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
Renowned as a Verdi and Puccini specialist, Aleksanyan has sung in over 14 productions of Madama Butterfly, including her acclaimed debut at Teatro alla Scala in the opening of the 2016/17 season under the baton of Riccardo Chailly. She has portrayed Cio-Cio San in cities such as Valencia, Seoul, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Florence, Trieste, Buenos Aires, and Hamburg.
In recent seasons, she has performed in Simon Boccanegra at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Aida at the Macerata Festival, and Don Carlo and La Bohème at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. She also sang in a gala concert in Shanghai conducted by Daniel Oren.
During the 2021/22 season, Aleksanyan debuted in the title roles of Tosca (Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari) and Adriana Lecouvreur (Deutsche Oper am Rhein). She also performed as Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro (Deutsche Oper am Rhein) and in the title role of Luisa Miller (Hamburgische Staatsoper).
In the 2022/23 season, she reprised the roles of Adriana Lecouvreur, Tosca, and Cio-Cio San at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In 2023/24, she is set to debut as the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier and as Elisabetta in Don Carlo at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, as well as perform in a new production of Carmen at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
Earlier in her career, during the 2010/11 season, she was a member of the ensemble at the Aalto Theater in Essen, where she sang roles such as Violetta (La Traviata), Antonia (The Tales of Hoffmann), Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Amalia (I Masnadieri), and Tatiana (Eugene Onegin).
Aleksanyan has worked with renowned conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Simone Young, Giampaolo Bisanti, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, and Riccardo Frizza, as well as esteemed directors including Andreas Homoki, Hans Neuenfels, Mario Pontiggia, Alvis Hermanis, and Hugo de Ana.
She began her musical education at the age of nine, initially studying piano at the Mizroyan Music School before pursuing vocal studies with Sergey Danielyan at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan. A finalist in several international singing competitions across Europe, she won third prize at the Concours International de Chant de Toulouse.
