Nazaret Kiurkchian

For almost three decades, Nazaret Kiurkchian has been the tenured principal double bass player for the Cordoba Symphonic Orchestra.

 

After completing his studies at the Yerevan State Conservatory with Professor Vahe Terzian, he continued his education at the prestigious Ecole Normale De Musique in Paris under the guidance of Professor Philippe Canales and at the Leningrad Conservatory, where he was mentored by Boris Kozlov and Sophia Vakman.

 

His career also includes performances as a visiting player with numerous orchestras, including the Valencia, Malaga, Mumbai, and MusicAeterna Symphonic Orchestras, as well as the New Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra. He has performed solo in cities such as Madrid, Paris, and St. Petersburg, as well as in many other European concert halls.

In addition to his performance career, Nazaret is an esteemed educator. He has served as a double bass professor at the Advanced Conservatory of Murcia in Spain, where he taught individual lessons, developed syllabi, and prepared students for auditions and performances. He has also coached various youth symphonic orchestras in Spain and taught graduate/master's classes across several Spanish cities.

 

Nazaret has been recognized with several honors, including the Grand Prix at the Ecole Normale De Musique in Paris, First Prize at the International Youth Music Competition in Murcia, the Geneva Music Competition Award, the USSR National Music Competition Award, and First Prize at the Transcaucasia Music Competition. He has participated in prominent music festivals such as the Menton Music Festival (France), the Santander Music Festival, and the Cordoba International Festival.
