SPECIAL EVENTS

Ahead of the official opening of the 2024 festival in July, we had the privilege of co-organizing two concerts by renowned jazz pianist Tigran Hamasyan.
These concerts, held in April, were a gift to the Syunik region, showcasing Hamasyan's extraordinary talent and deepening the community's connection to the festival
The first concert, on April 21, was particularly unique, taking place on the slopes of Khustup Mountain, the symbol of Kapan, with a grand piano transported by helicopter. After the concert on Khustup, Hamasyan performed in the border village of Shvanidzor, in an abandoned cultural house that retains its mystic and astonishing ambience.
This beautiful space needs renovation, and the concert aimed to raise awareness. The event was a magical blend of music and history, drawing attention to the cultural heritage that still lingers in these forgotten places.
By highlighting Shvanidzor's unique charm, the concert sought to inspire efforts to preserve this important piece of the region's legacy. Hamasyan's performances were a testament to the power of music to inspire and unite, setting a high standard for the events to come.

This year, we are thrilled to welcome, for the first time in Armenia, prominent musicians including Roby Lakatos and his ensemble, Julien Libeer, Elly Suh, and Denis Severin. Additionally, we are proud to present an exhibition of Stradivarius instruments, the first of its kind in Armenia, offering a rare and priceless experience for our attendees.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to our dedicated sponsors, partners, and supporters: Kapan Municipality, Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia, Kapan State Art College, AGBU, Yerevan Brandy Company, Land Rover Armenia, Karas Wines, Miaseen.org, and all the friends of Kapan Fest. Your unwavering support has been instrumental in making this festival a reality!
A major highlight of this year's festival is the renovation of one of Armenia's finest organs. This project, led by our Founder and Artistic Director, the distinguished Armenian-Belgian cellist Sevak Avanesyan, has involved months of meticulous work by specialized professionals. We eagerly anticipate the rebirth of this magnificent instrument and the captivating performances that will bring it to life.
